I love to listen to music. Jazz, blues, classical, opera, chamber, choral, folk, film scores, musicals, Celtic and anything else that catches my fancy. All music represents, to me, a sincere desire to communicate something of personal importance to it's creator/performer, and I respond with eager ears and an open mind. I have been lucky in my life to have met numerous talented musicians, some of world-wide fame including Robert Shaw, Leontyne Price, Franz Brueggen, Jean-Pierre Rampal and Robert Veryon~laCroix, Rudolf Serkin, Julian Bream, Halim El Dahb, as well as local greats such as Joseph Edwards, James Umble, Dr. Ted Perkins and Tim Elder. I love musicals and dance and have seen Broadway productions of Cats and Riverdance. Lee Ritenour and Billie Holiday share my Thorens turntable and Lorenna McKennett's voice often graces my Listening room.
I love the music of Stravinsky and Prokofiev, plus all the other great Russian composers. I also have a weakness for string quartets and admire Haydn, Schubert, Mozart, Ravel, Dvorak, Smetana and Janacek in every genre. Great equipment makes great music at home and I love my McIntosh gear the most!
